🔗 Share this article The second-hand marketplace Members Voice Displeasure About Size Updates Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused products showing incorrect sizing. The popular resale platform has altered its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes but did not contact all users about the change. Digital Channels Response Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online stating that platform listings now display a different size category versus the original listing due to the recalibration. The platform stated the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces. They have suggested members to review their products and manually change the size if necessary, resulting in member annoyance. Sizing System Changes Before the change, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10. The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range such as S/UK 8-10. For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size was previously a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18. User Stories Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder". "Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does. Another user, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22. "Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she said. Necessary Adjustments A different user, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing". "For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial following partial earnings loss," she said. Service Background The service features exceeding 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK. It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop. This represents another occasion where an unanticipated change within the service has received backlash: earlier, the platform withdrew an update regarding delivery choices due to shopper criticism.
